Heroes

Sebastiana Vazquez Gomez is a community organizer and trainer on reproductive health, women’s rights and domestic violence, working in communities in the highlands of Chiapas, México. She is also a practicing traditional midwife. Her leadership in the community is helping to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity. She now runs a state-funded women's health center and has become a spokesperson for indigenous women's rights in national and international settings.
